Facts Pat, the plant manager of one of ABC’s five plants, is faced with the ultimate dilemma (rephrase). She has to choose whether she will expose the truth of the company to one of her friends or maintain her integrity with the company. Pat, being a manager of the plant for the company, is required to keep information from higher-ups strictly private (re-phrase for clarity) . With this knowledge Pat will not be allowed and should not reveal or give any hints to her friend about the situation as it would compromise the integrity of the situation and her position in the corporation.[ need. [ Issue With this the ethical dilemma sprouts this question, what is the right answer; help the company or the close friend? There are two theories here to consider to make (wc.) the best decision. Ethical Lenses and Analysis The first theory Pat should consider is the Categorical Imperative Theory, which basically says that a person should make his/her decision based on the universal law. What does this mean? It means that if the majority follows a certain way the best advice is to not stray away from the community’s choice.[ F3] With his (sp.: this) knowledge Pat should not compromise the integrity of her company revealing the confidential information to her friend that is her subordinate. Pat also has to consider her friend whom, if laid off, could be in a serious financial bind (meaning is not clear) that could affect him/her.
