1) There were numerous alternatives to the full orchestral score the Star Wars reinterpreted from the earlier classical period. They adopted clichés from western which included medieval action and romances, martial arts, and romantic comedies. The general alternative or trend was to go back to emotional qualities of romanticism to stimulate emotional responses. Some of the things that Star War goes back to and uses are symphony orchestra, post romantic style, wall to wall, and unity through leitmotifs and transformations in themes. In this era physical gestures were mirrored by emotional states. In traditional film scores there was one dominant theme throughout the film but in newer films like Star Wars they used more than one theme throughout the film.

2) In the Red Violin there are three principal episodes with violin sounds the color red unifies these scenes together. Each title includes the color red in it to make it relevant to the violin theme. To show progression the violin is played by different aged males. First it’s a baby and then it goes all the way to an old man and it cycles back down to a baby. The basic theme in this film is human life and the power of mans artistic creations. Some concert music composers that have received recognition are Phillip Glass which was focused on minimalism features. Tan dun a Chinese born composer who focused on western musical styles. Elliot Goldenthal which is known for mixing varieties of musical styles. John Corigliano who composes symphonies and chamber music.
