The common elements described in the theories/philosophies of Case, Kouzes, and Drucker including how their principles/strategies relate to the new definition of entrepreneurial leadership presented in Understanding Entrepreneurial Leadership in today’s Dynamic Markets.
The common elements described in the theories and philosophies of Steve
Case, James Kouzes, and Peter Drucker as they relate to the definition of entrepreneurial leadership explore beliefs that include the entrepreneurial leader as being able to take risks, innovate, focus on the task, assumes personal responsibility, as well as possess an economic orientation. In addition, their theories and philosophies reveals individual characteristics that the entrepreneurial leader must have which include vision, problem solving, decision-making, and strategic plans. Steve Case explores these characteristics with his three “P” method. In his speech, Case explains to students about his leadership philosophies of people, passion and perseverance. The former AOL CEO and Chairman describe these words as the foundation of successful entrepreneurship, and he also relies on these "three P's" as assessment tools to help guide his direction and goals. The “people” aspect of his leadership philosophy focuses on people taking risks. Passion aspect primarily focuses on what someone is passionate about and the improvement of it, while perseverance reveals the need to look at the future prospect of a particular company of situation (Case, 2010). During James Kouzes podcast, Rising to the Leadership Challenge he speaks about his five practices of exemplary leadership.
