Explain the Importance of Training and Talent Development to the Organization

Abstract

This paper will identify three types of training categories and their importance in an organization. It will also identify three websites that are involved with employee training and/or development and present three career stages and their needs and concerns in training and development. Lastly, upon identifying three types of training categories, websites involved with employee training as well as three career stages, the paper will conclude a position that defends or argues against management belief that employee training and development is an expense that may lead to voluntary turnover.

Question 1

Identify at least three types of organizational training categories and explain their importance.

When an organization provides training for their employees, training is use to provide specifics, identifiable knowledge and skills use to perform in their jobs. The first type of organizational training category required and regular training is a process that provides various legal requirements such as OSHA and EEO and is given to current employees and for new hired at new employee orientation. (Mathis, 2010) In some areas, organizational associates may be required to take training when they first come into a job. For example, organizations provide training for their accountants so that they can understand the accounting function on various systems in order to prepare financial reports for the company business.

The second organizational training category is job/technical training. This training is a process that involves technical computer skills needed by particular individuals in an organization. For example, IT Specialist in an organization is trained specific computer skills in order to assist and resolve computer problems, especially when there system updates due to company mergers....
