Introduction

This report aims to discuss how economic concepts can be used to explain performance programs, incentive pay and employee’s turnover .This report will also showcase the theory with a case study in the context of a retailer's stores- Giant hypermarket.

Case study: Giant Hypermarket

Giant hypermarket is a subsidiary of Dairy Farm International Holding. Giant is one of the largest retailer stores in Malaysia with over 85 branches spread throughout the country. The company has about 16,000 employees in the country. It aims to provide the biggest savings and values across wide range of products such as fresh groceries and merchandise along with the best shopping experience for the shoppers. In order to serve the customer better, Giant has collaborated with the Malaysian Government to launch a Price subsidy campaign to bought price of daily essentials to even lower prices (Giant, 2015). The MNC currently operate in Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia with the intention to venture into other Asian countries.

Besides that, Giant hypermarket is one such company that due corporate social responsibility highly. They are always active in voluntarily repaying the community in charity drive. One of the examples is way back in 2014; when they played a part in the event of ‘MyKasih,Love My Neighbour’ to assist the needy families by providing an allowance to serve as a debit card to help the selected familiar to budget...
