Would children act differently if they napped on a daily basis. I do daycare in my home, so one week I decided to allow the children not to nap. This was a brave thing to do, but I wanted to see if they acted any differently. Well, after week one, I came to the conclusion that the children did not play well with each other, snack time was hectic. Toward the end of the day, the children did not want to help clean up and pack up there things for when their mother came to pick them up. Week 2, I allowed the children to nap for an hour or two. This was a quiet for me and did not know how much I had missed those few minutes of piece and quiet. After the week of napping, the children were friendly to each other and happy to help with snack time. They also ate all of their snacks. Clean up time was great.. They had a lot of smiles and lots of laughter, seeing how a nap has gave the children a boost of happiness. When the parents arrived, they were packed and ready to leave with smiles, not tears.

I came to the conclusion that a nap helps the children get through the day being happy and enjoyable to be around.

My theory is tested as some psychologists do by gathering information and testing what they believe to be the best way to do things. Without research no one would know if they were making the right decision or choice.

If given another opportunity, I would allow nap time every day for the children to rest so it will make the days of my job and the parents a happy day.
