Ethical Issues in Management: Work Assignments

In all aspects of business most managers have to constantly deal with an array of moral and ethical issues such as: racism, prejudice, work ethic, personal connection, work hours, work environment, punishment methods, etc. Issues in management aren’t always ethical some issues also deal with a manager’s moral overview of an issue. The relationships between most ethical and moral issues are strikingly similar. Since business is a way of life and the thin line between personal, and professional are the emotions managers give to a situation. External social influence must be considered as well if the gray area between ethics and law is too foggy to discern. Actual day to day events will also help in the decision-making process. Being that we are people in life and mangers in business we can use our everyday trials for references when faced with issues dealing with morale and ethical values. This process will not slow progress so by referencing the past we can make better decisions for the future and ensure prosperity for those affected by the decisions we make as people and managers.

Racism is an issue that’s covered by ethical and moral insight. Work assignments can identify racism in the work place for example at Fed Ex if a manager delegates a Team Leader to assign work assignments and an employee feels emotionally that he or she is picked for that particular job because he or she is the minority whether he or she is white or black the employee is displaying racism. Because the employee thought or felt that he or she was singled out because of the color of their skin and not the performance of their skill he or she is becoming an unethical thinker.
