The Value of a College Education

In this research paper, I will discuss what the value of a college education means to me. There are some people that don’t realize the value of a college education. Their parents may pay for them to go off to college and they take it for granted. These students take this opportunity as a chance to party. For example I was one of them that took the opportunity, for granted.

My parents provided me with all the basic necessities that any young adult would ask for. For example I had an apartment in San Diego, a car, money for clothes, food and spending money. My parents prefer for me to focus on my studies and not to work, however I decided to have fun and not take my studies seriously. Recently I have faced a tremendous amount of obstacles in life, which now made me realize how valuable a college education really is. Yet another example is that there are many people in society whose relatives hold high positions and feel it is unnecessary to pursue a degree as well. They apply themselves just enough to get passing grades, however after their college days are done and gone, many will regret such irresponsible actions. For example when the day comes and they finally get hired in a major corporation, their irresponsible actions will lead them to demonstrate non-proficient traits.

It’s a shame that many don’t take advantage of such a priceless opportunity. On the other hand, many others like me now have a different outlook on the accomplishments that a college education provides. A higher education will give me many physical benefits like better quality of life for my family, more career choices, and job security. In addition, this will set a good example for my kids and at the same time a college education will also give me qualities such as self confidence, better communications skills, and the ability to perform in a team environment.
