The study seeks to identify the effects of tank farms and trucking operations on road traffic congestion on Apapa-Oshodi traffic corridor. Primary and secondary data were used to achieve the objectives of the study. The primary data were collected with the use of well-structured questionnaire administered to truck operators, commuters, and private car owners while the land use activities of the area were also determined from field survey and observation. The data obtained was analysed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics of mean item score (MIS). The study found that the major land use in Apapa is commercial and industrial which attracts traffic on daily basis with congestion dominant on Mondays and Fridays. The study also identified inadequate truck parking space, location of fuel tanks (depots), high truck traffic flow on the route, vehicle breakdown, port related activities, lack of connectivity between modes and non-availability of truck lane as the dominant causes of traffic congestion in the area. The effects and solutions to the traffic congestion along Apapa-Oshodi traffic corridor were also ranked using mean item score (MIS). The study finally recommends that a phase relocation of the tank farms should be put in place and executed no matter what it takes.
