AFLAC's Mission

Since 1955 AFLAC has provided voluntary policies to people so they can focus

on recovery, not financial stress. (About Aflac, n.d.) In 1989, the company adopted the

acronym "AFLAC" which stands for American family life assurance company. The

company's mission is to "combine aggressive strategic marketing with quality products

and services at competitive prices to provide the best insurance value for consumers"

(Aflac, n.d.).

Subsequently, looking at the companies about us page, I became aware that the

companies primary focus is in support of their mission statement. AFLAC's about us page

gives us a brief explanation of their company. It is then broken down into different

sections that further reinforce the mission of the company. Among the sections are links

to our company (which contains a timeline for the company's development), corporate

citizenship (which describes the various activities that the company participate in to to

promote wellness within the community), the newsroom (which displays articles that

shows the company's commitment to their mission statement), and suppliers (which

shows that interest in diversity, commitment to sustainable sourced supplies, and ethics).

(About AFLAC, n.d.).

Furthermore, if we further examine the information provided on their "our

Company" page, we will understand that their business strategy is in full support of their

mission statement. This strategy is broken down to three principles. First, there is a

description of their core products. Secondly, is the process by which they would distribute

the products. And finally, there is the emphasis on getting new accounts and providing for

the existing customs. AFLAC markets their products in the two biggest insurance markets

in the world, namely the United States and Japan (Our Company, n.d.).
