‘Management is the cornerstone of organizational effectiveness, and the integrating activity that permeates every facet of the operations of the organization’. Referring to case studies of your choice:

i) Critically discuss what you believe are the most important factors that are likely to determine the successful performance of work organizations.

A work organization represents a group of people coming together ideally with ‘common work objectives’, even when they are assembled from different cultures, backgrounds, individual capabilities and personal goals. The ‘successful’ performance of any organization is defined by its own goals and objectives determined by its ownership, stakeholders, financial resources, and motives. There are no set benchmarks to ascertain the successful performance of an organization and it is related to the benchmarks’ set for itself under the circumstances and background with which each company was initiated in the first place. However, factors determining the level to which any organization can reach its ‘anticipated success level’ are quite related and can be broadly viewed as falling under two categories, external and internal.

External factors of the region like the social and cultural influences, the prevailing economic situation, environmental factors, legal issues governed by rules and regulations determined to a large extent by the party in power, the market share and market environment are all grossly intangible although individually important in determining the course of the company.

However, there are several internal factors broadly grouped under the organizational structure and culture, work ethics of the company, management styles and competency in handling or taking risk and human resource management practices can each have a direct bearing on the success chart of the company.
