UW-Milwaukee School of Business Administration BBA-Finance Program Review

May, 2010 The Finance Area was assigned the task of reviewing the undergraduate major in Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Lubar School of Business in the fall of 2009 and did most of its work in the spring of 2010 after the collection of data for the review was completed. The Finance Area has ten members (Professors Bender, D. Hsu, S. Hsu, Huang, Kim, Marcus, McBain, Ng, Rymaszewski, and Sibilkov). Professor Bender led the review of the BBA finance major. A substantial amount of information was collected with the help of the Office of the Dean.

1. Statement of the Program/Major/Concentration/Certificate mission and how it contributes to the fulfillment of the Lubar School mission statement. Lubar School of Business mission statement: The Sheldon B. Lubar School of Business delivers high quality management education to a diverse group of graduate and undergraduate students and practicing professionals. BBA Degree mission statement: Our undergraduate degree programs provide students with a career foundation leading to managerial advancement and /or entrepreneurial careers.

The BBA-Finance Major mission statement is unchanged since the 2004 internal program review: It is the mission of the faculty in finance to train students to succeed in the dynamic world of domestic and international finance by providing finance majors both practical and theoretical professional skills to work in investment management, corporate financial management, and banking. The BBA-Finance Major mission statement contributes to the fulfillment of both the BBA Degree and Lubar School of Business mission statements by providing quality finance education and training leading to professional placement with relevant firms.
