Introduction

Organisation behaviour (OB) is an analytical study and applying of knowledge about how individuals or groups perform within organisations where they work (Bauer and Erdogan, 2009). Hiriyappa (2009) suggest that to facilitate the study of OB it involves looking into three perspectives which are psychological, sociological and organisational factors. Psychological refers to observe and understand how human behaviour influence their reaction to the organisation environment, sociological refers to how people interact with different groups of organisation and organisational factors refers to studying the impact of larger organisational factors on the individuals. In short, Big Energy should observe the interaction of individuals faced in their organisation style.

From the case study, XYZ Energy, a major government owned company was being taken over by a private-sector competitor, Big Energy for a high price. Thus, through this study, Big Energy will need to understand the impact of the integration model on the overall attitudes, values and behaviour of remaining XYZ Energy employees and make all employees work well together for its company common goal.

Impact on attitudes

Attitudes are from someone’s inner feelings and thoughts which can be either positive or negative towards a person, place, thing or job. Attitudes are being shaped by our experiences, so when we experience more in life, the more our attitudes can change.

In addition, in work, there are two particular job attitudes and they are job satisfaction and organisational commitment (Bauer and Erdogan, 2009). Job satisfaction refers to positive or negative feeling towards their job after one’s evaluation of the work content.
