Case Datadot: Motivation in practice

Issue: The staff feels less in touch with management, less informed and therefore less involved and committed. In the last year, a few people already left the company. Recently, some staff members complained about their wage level, and a valuable employee finally left the company even after given a promise to increase his salary by 15% and a bigger company car.

Solution:

Short-term strategy: Due to the successive resignations recently, the atmosphere in the company seems to be very tense. This event leads to negative impacts on the other employees. In order to eliminate these negative effects and re-build employee’s positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit, management team must conduct a team building action soon. We suggest our management team (including CEO, Paul) to hold a party or outdoor team building action for all employees to participate in. Team building is a process of enabling them to achieve their goals。Paul can take this opportunity to share the company’s business strategy and development plans with all employees, which help the employee to re-think and clarify their direction and position in the company’s fast development. It’s an incentive to all staff, and it can help to inspire the staff morale, so that the employees are still driven by Paul’s enthusiasm and passion, and highly motivated and strongly connected to the company as before. Business unit managers can take this opportunity to talk with their co-workers in depth, knowing their ideas, current status and future expectations, bringing such information together for future management.
