Music Appreciation

Thursdays 6:30-9:15pm

On November, 23 2014, I attended an afternoon of romantic piano music that was performed by Dr. Jure Rozman. The performance was held at the Ralph R. Bailey Concert Broward College – Central Campus Visual & Performing Department. The choir room holds about 1300 people and almost every seat was taken. The audience was dressed casual. The performer this evening was an aspiring pianist named Dr. Jure Rozman. The performer had a charismatic personality, with a little bit of an accent. At about 2:00 pm, the lights dimmed. An announcement reminded the audience to turn off all electronic devices. All became quiet until the pianist arrived to the applause of the audience. He took place and started the recital with a piece from Franz Liszt (1811-1886) Transcendental Etudes Harmonies du soir (Evening Harmonies). He played some fast piece and slow moving melodic classical music with accuracy and perfection. Some of classical songs he played includes: Josef Suk (1874-1935) Springs, op. 22 No. 4: (Andante) No. 5: V roztouzeni (Yearning), Franz Liszt (1810-1886) Annees de pelerinage (Suisse) Vallee d’Obermann, S.160, Alexander Scriabin (1872-1915) Prelude and Nocturne for left hand, op. 9, Sergey Rachmaninoff (1873-1943) Prelude in B Minor, op. 32/8 Etude in Eb Minor, op. 39/5,...
