EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Problem/Opportunity: Supermarket retailers lost their vision on customers database. The customers being more intelligent having less time for shopping. The new innovation in technology will give the advantage to retailers to be successful. Retailers should sell what the customers want and make the shopping quick and easy through information technology.

Current Environment : Technology is in conservative pace because of ROI strategy. Shopping is time consuming and tedious. Many customers are tired of looking at the queue in the billing counter at the front end. They are not provided the information they need. They are wasting their auspicious time on even picking their regular grocery. Retailers information system provide 70% information to sustain existing capability and 30% for the new capability.

Recommended : A well designed database that provides all the information that customer needs including what to buy, how to buy, suggestions, deals, offers etc. retailers should have constant data to give their customers a real time experience in shopping. Customers can pick their regular stuffs quickly and spend their time on other products and services provided by the retailers. Self checkout systems are attracting the customers.

Justification : New technologies like kiosks and digital signages has the solution. It makes the shopping interesting and also interactive. Customers data can be enabled by themselves by the means of identification while entering the store. Can look for their list of regular stuff and can modify the list and proceed for quick and timely checkout.
