Abstract- The information genererated from this study contributes to the body of knowledge on employee motivation. This information will be useful to HR managers in formulation of reward strategies to motivate employees.
Chapter 1 intro
Motivation has been describes as one of the most pivotal concern of modern organizational research (Baron, 1991). McClain and Romaine 2002 observe that companies want to make sure employees are happy, so they strive to establish fun and creative work environments.
Schermehorn, Hunt and Osborn (1998) argue that now, not later is when work places must be transformed, redesigned and operated with a true commitment to those who do the required work. Only when people experience a sense of personal satisfaction from their work is their perfomance possible on a continuing basis.
IMPORTANCE
It will evaluate how staff perfomance at lizafayso will be enhanced through realignment of motivational programmes.
Definition of terms
Moptivation
heller and hindle 1998 define motivation as the will to act
rewards
Armstrong 1999 states that an employee reward system consists of an organizations integrated policies, processes and practices for rewarding its employees in accordance with contribution, skill and competence and their market worth.
NON FINANCIAL REWARDS
these are rewards that focus on the needs people perceive to varying degrees of acheivement, recognition, responsibility, influence and personal growth (Armstrong, 2000)
INCENTIVES
These are reward systems that influence people's acheivement in the shape of attaining high perfomance(Armstrong, 2000)
