Although there are numerous of Psychological disorders, the one that stood out to me is the Psychotic disorder. Psychotic disorder victims lose touch with reality. There are severe mental disorders which cause a person to think abnormally. “Two of the major symptoms of the psychotic disorders are hallucinations and delusions. The symptoms differ from one individual to the other but it does change over time. “Other symptoms include things like incoherent speech, confused thinking, possibly dangerous behavior, slowed movements, loss of interest in personal hygiene, loss of interest in activities and cold and detached manner with inability to express emotion.” (webcenter.com) Even though this disorder is treatable with drugs and psychological therapy, individuals with this disorder tend to become unable in meeting the ordinary demands of daily life. There are different types of disorder linking to this one including Schizophrenia and delusional disorders such as shared psychotic disorders, substance induced disorders and paraphrenia.

Schizophrenia is one of the chronic disorders that entail the disabling of the brain. Schizophrenia enables individuals to hear voices others do not hear, or forces them to believe that their thoughts are being broadcasted to the world. Furthermore, it also convinces people that they are a victim of someone wanting to hunt or harm them. About 1.1 percent of the population in the United States age 18 and older live with this disorder on a daily basis. The experiences that go along with being a schizophrenic are extremely terrifying and causes withdraw fearfulness and at times extreme agitation. Schizophrenia affects people in not being able to talk well so that people would understand; they can even spend hours sitting down without saying one word.
