2.) How might john’s personality influence his social environment and in which way might the social environment influence his expression of his personality?

John is said to be high in Neuroticism, this means he has the tendency to experience negative emotions such as anxiety, anger and depression. Those who score high in neuroticism are emotionally reactive and vulnerable to stress. They are more likely to interpret ordinary situations as threatening, and minor frustrations as hopelessly difficult. Their negative emotional reactions tend to persist for unusually long periods of time, which means they are often in a bad mood. This could influence john’s social environment at work. He might not be able to maintain a job or work with other individuals successfully, especially if he has problems with stress and staying positive. This could also affect his social environment with friends and family. People might tend to avoid john because they would prefer not to deal with his self pity and negative frame of mind. An example might be if john was to get married he might experience marital dissatisfaction and even divorce. These problems in emotional regulation can severely diminish relationships and opportunities in life. Social environments will also influence john’s personality and how he interacts with people. He may reveal different aspects of his personality to different people during interactions. For example his parents might be more tolerant of his bad moods and behavior than his friends, thus he may feel freer to express these bad moods around his parents. Another factor would be based on strong situations like whether john was at a wedding or at a party. He might be very negative, but be surrounded by a shy, talkative, thoughtful, boisterous people and you wouldn’t be able to tell them apart. However if you placed these individuals at a party then you might be able to narrow down easily who might be who.
