New Strip Mall

NorthPoint Properties has announced that it plans to break ground by the end of the year on 105,000 square feet of retail development at the intersection of S. Buckner Boulevard and Interstate-30, less than a mile from the Big Town Mall area, which is in the planning stages for a major redevelopment. The NorthPoint development, dubbed Buckner Crossing, sits on the boundary between Mesquite and Dallas. The $30 million project will be built in two phases. The first phase is 12-acres of retail space that will be anchored by a 26,689-square foot Ross Dress for Less. Other announced tenants include Famous Footware, Anna’s Linens, Payless Shoes and Rainbow Fashions. This phase is scheduled to open next summer. Tom Palmer, the Mesquite economic development director, said that the businesses in the front of the development n a bank and a restaurant, which haven’t been named -- will be in Dallas, while the retail shops at the back will be in Mesquite. The second phase will add 25,000 to 35,000 square feet
