SQ3R Worksheet

Selected Reading: Reading Comprehension, Vocabulary, and Speed pg 121,153

Survey How did you survey?

I read over the main titles of each paragraph, looked for the main points of each paragraph

Question What questions did you ask? Well I did write a few questions down. But as I started this I remembered from last week.

1) What are the average words per min.?

2) How would comprehension help in reading?

3) Can it be read in stages?

Read How did you read?

I did try to run through it without reading the whole thing. Breezed throw it though.

Recite What did you recite?

The sub-titles and the italics words. Reread my questions and answers, said them to myself.

Review How did you review? I read the main points of each section and review my question and compared answers. I also read the chapter summary at the end of the chapter.

Wrap-up Questions: How successful was the SQ3R process in helping you grasp the concepts in the section you selected? Will you use SQ3R in the future as a way to master the content in academic readings? I did find it to be a little different cause just not use to it. It did take me a few minutes to get it down or really understand it. I do think I’ll keep working on it like I said a little different just trying a new thing, to brake an old habit.
