Since the 17th century, men are always assigned to be leaders. In the past, leaders were mainly the head of society or central of power. For instant, the head of army troop has to be a man mainly because he needs to be a role model of the troop. The leader represents the power and strength of a troop so women are hardly to fulfill this position. In the 21st century today, peace and prosperity have become major focus all over the world. Physical war has been ceased to minimal as the war has been transformed into politics and economy play. During this transition period, the definition of leader has changed and new player- woman has shown increasing interest in becoming leader. I strongly believe that James Cavendish is more likely to be chosen as the new CEO since leader may have always traditionally been men as they tend to possess necessary leadership qualities.

A survey was conducted on 1,097 employees whether they prefer male or female subordinate. The result shows that about 43% has no preference, 36% prefers male subordinate and the rest prefers female subordinate. Also, David Brown, of online recruitment firm www.UKJobs.net, which commissioned the research, said: ‘Incredibly both men and women are in total agreement that men make better bosses – 63 per cent of women and 75 per cent of men. ’ Beside, there is another research in United States showed that since 1953, Americans always prefer to work under a male boss instead of female boss. The result of the research is shown as below.

The employee will prefer to have a male boss mainly because they are straight-talking when they come to deal with problems. Women sometimes are too kind toward their employees and try to avoid straight-forward comment on their performance for the sake of their esteem. This may not yield expected result as employees sometimes do not get the implicit meaning. Subsequently the communication breaks down and more problems to the company.
