PERFORMANCE

Performance plays a big role in the company/organization. Poor performance can lead to the downfall of a company and good performance can help a company achieve its goals.

There are three aspects to look at in managing individual performance

-planning performance

-formal assessment and reward

-delivering and monitoring performance

People development strategy helps in providing effective training. Steps involved in this process include

-identify development need

-design development activity

-carry out development

-evaluate development

In times of recession many managers tend to use autocratic leadership styles so that they can focus more on the tasks of which lead to the employees being neglected, in the end this brings about an impact in the performance of the employees and their motivation. This is because employees tend to work very long hours but not being paid for then overtime, in the end they become de-motivated and hence poor performance. In order to overcome this, it is important to provide them proper and good quality training as a means of motivating them as well as for the good for the company. Giving them reward can also motivate them and make them not to miss work or leave the company. With autocratic leadership style and facing recession companies end up having high level of absenteeism and turnover rate. This can be reduced by offering

-training and support for line managers

-change management style

-provide incentives

-change working conditions

-develop attendance policy

There are so many reasons for employee turnover rate, this can be

-push factors (things in the organization that pushes away the employee)

-pull factor (things from outside the company that pulls away the employee, e.g. high salary from another company, good working conditions
