Introduction

We see it on the NYSE as LYV. It is known as Live Nation Entertainment, and for those of you who don’t know, Live Nation Entertainment is the largest live entertainment company in the world. According to Livenation.com it connects over two hundred million fans to over hundreds of thousands of events all across the world. Live Nation also is the largest producer of live concerts in the world, producing over 22,000 concerts annually for over 1,500 artists (Live Nation Entertainment, 2010). Live Nation Entertainment was originally known as Live Nation Concert Promotions before it merged with Ticketmaster in January of 2010, thus making Ticketmaster.com the number three eCommerce website in the world (Live Nation Entertainment, 2010) . Before the merger with Ticketmaster Live Nation’s mission was to maximize the live concert experience. Once the merger completed it revamped its mission and Live Nation Entertainment now hopes to improve the live entertainment experience and to drive major innovations in ticketing technology, marketing and service (Inc. & Inc., 2010).

Live Nation Entertainment operates in three business segments: North American Music, International music and Ticketing. The owners of Live Nation Concert Promotions and Ticketmaster felt that by merging they will now have the tools to develop new products, expand access, improve transparency and deliver both the artists and fans more choice. This will make them a top performer in their three business segments by bringing in larger crowds and attendance rates and bringing more value to the industry (Inc., 10-K Report, 2011)

According to their website, Live Nation’s main Strategy was to connect the artist to the fans. They tried to implement this strategy by using the following objectives listed below with explanations of each strategy located in Appendix A:
