What is a gang?

A group of people, most commonly youngsters or adolescent who stay together for a common interest is called as a gang. It could be for social reasons, some criminal or for some anti-social purposes. In this article we will see briefly about gangs, the factors that determine a gang, and what is gang’s psychology. It is an international threatening now in common because of the gangs that involve in violence. Also it is a serious issue to look at how the kids and adolescents get attracted towards such gangs in a larger number.

Why do people join gangs?

If you wonder why do people join gangs which are really dangerous and anti social. The immediate answer could be the money that comes in easy way. The fantasy that adolescent and youngsters have on the violence through the media. It has been shown that they can earn pretty good amount of money in a shorter period by doing the small part time gang jobs. Though money is a significant factor for the gang violence, it doesn’t work that effective with kids as they have the strong morals against good and bad. But the kids accept and like the gang violence because of the influence of the violence shown in movies and television. Most of the shows and the movies now a day are with extreme violence in a gang’s perspective. When children are watching such movies or shows, they absorb the ideas of violence and gang without any distraction. The action scenes and the gory scenes influence the young mind in major way and it makes the young people to join in gang. In total the media, theatres, the stability of the government, illicit drugs and unemployment are the main reasons for the formation of gangs. And mostly the adolescents and the youngsters are attracted towards these gangs by the peer pressure, greed and need for the money in a short period.
