News Channel 37 company and its subsidiaries take media coverage and the providing of facts very seriously.

In the suburbs of Cary, NC highly intensive and national news coverage is rare. An unlikely event occurred on February 15, 2011 where a bank robber attempted to rob Eastern Federal Credit Union and took many patrons and employees in a hostage situation. Longtime news reporter veteran Travis D. Williams was sent to the scene to cover and report the incident. Upon investigation, readers input and several telephone conversations with reporters from other news reporting agencies, News Channel 37 and its owners were advised of fraudulent statements made by Mr. Williams regarding his coverage on 2/15/2011 and subsequently 2/16/2011 at a press conference.

Mr. Williams is a long time employee of News Channel 37 and prior to this investigation; no investigation has ever been undergone regarding fraudulent statements made by him.

It is the legal responsibility for a news company covering public and local news to provide accurate events and facts. Thus, it is this news company’s position to ensure that all news deriving from this company be founded in fact.

Several calls were received from competing companies with regard to the allegations. This is not only an embarrassment for the news company but makes this company vulnerable to lawsuits. Remediation must be performed proactively.

Upon meeting with Mr. Williams and discussing the fraudulent acts, he delivered his resignation.

This company needs to create a net affect to catch any and all statements, pictures, information, quotes or anything in like manner so that this company will legally comply with guidelines, provide accurate information, prevent lawsuits and ultimately protect public and the company.
