A company needs to communicate between departments and allow data to flow smoothly and freely without serious road blocks. This communication and data transfer can be accomplished through an Information Technology Architecture that encompasses Applications, Information, Technology, Organizational and Security architectures. An Information Technology Architecture is a blueprint that is developed, implemented, maintained, and used to explain and guide how an organization’s IT and information management elements work together to efficiently accomplish the mission of the organization. Each company has a vision for the information technology. The Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services states it’s vision as: “To facilitate the programmatic goals of the Department through dependable, seamless technology resources with secured access to comprehensive, quality data using integrated enterprise facilities.” Every organizational department within the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services needs to be able to communicate or transfer data to and from each other and also be accessible externally. The departments utilize applications, which are automated programs to do work and accomplish the Department’s mission. (Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, 2007) Health and Family Services program managers utilize a Master Customer Index program that links program services and providers to clients/customers through a major entity called the Division of Health Care Financing. This all links into funding, where not only customers but clients that fund health insurance and the providers of services can link and exchange funding and services likewise.
