RE: Career Development Plan Summary
The restructuring of this department necessitates several steps be taken to align this department with corporate goals. Additional responsibilities have been assigned to this department and these added responsibilities will require a change in the makeup of the personnel required to perform these additional tasks. Training new and current employees will be paramount to the successful transition of this team. Additionally, methods for evaluating the individual employee’s and team’s performances will be required as well as disciplinary plans established for lack of performance. This memo will introduce the challenges of team performance appraisal, career development plans for individuals, incentive and benefits packages, and fair and appropriate compensation plans.
Job Descriptions and Qualifications
Five additional positions will be required to meet and fulfill the corporate goals for the restructured department. Four positions will be technical and the last position will be a management position to oversee the four new positions.
UNIX System Administrator
Job Description: The UNIX administrator will be responsible for the design, installation, deployment, configuration, and maintenance of UNIX-based servers and software. The UNIX administrator will work with network engineers to implement database administration programs and business application programs, create long-range strategic planning in areas that involve system upgrades, end-user management, and systems programming.
Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, information systems, or four years of equivalent experience.
