Decisions in Paradise – Kava

The island of Kava is plagued with so many issues. These issues consist of disaster threats (typhoons, tornado’s, HIV/Aids), and a very young population. I have been in Kava for 4 months. I have worked very closely with Alex to try and rebuild the entire island. We were globalizing a successful call center from the States. In Kava it will be referred to as Kava’s Messaging Center. The purpose of the company is to take calls for clients. Our clientele will consist of doctors, transportation, maintenance for the barracks and whoever decides to enlist in our services. The company takes call for these offices after hours. We will take calls for clientele after hours, patch through emergencies and pass along message at the beginning of business daily.

In an effort to gain the respect and support of the community Kava Messaging Center will aid in the effort to help the rest of the island to regain functionality. Respect and support of the community is vital to our success. If they view our company as an Americanized company with means to funds and no effort to help we could be shunned by the Kavaians’. This will require a massive amount of financial help, so even though we want to help, we have to be wise about what we are willing and not willing to invest in. Problem identification is vital to decision making.

We have already invested in housing with the barracks. The island is in need of first aid, disaster prevention and overall structure. In order to choose the best financial investment Alex and I worked on monetary calculations and assessed the situation. We framed the problem by identifying the problem, goals, objective and the effects of the problem.
