Image - a picture or likeness of somebody or something, produced either physically by a sculptor, painter, or photographer, or formed in the mind

Do you think a photograph can capture the essence of a person, or does it merely record the image of the person? Respond to at least two of your classmates' postings.

Hello Class,

I truly believe a photo does both, captures the essence of a person and record the image of that person. Essence is the quality or nature of something that identifies it or makes it what it is. For example, when I take pictures of my son, I always try to catch the essence of him so people can see the quality of it and be able to identify with it and also to record it. To record is to preserve in a lasting form, isn’t that what a picture does. To record an image in a photo is somewhat hard because pictures are moment shots of actors and actress. When you take a picture of any sort you are acting. For example when you take glamour shots, athletic photos, kicking a soccer ball or posing for a wedding, wearing a grown all of these images are recorded of you and the essence of the photo is amazing but are you really who the pictures say you are. The essence is really important and is always what I look for in a picture so I can record the image, whether it’s for a moment or a lifetime. The difference from the essence of a picture and the record image of a picture is the way you the person views it.
