Time Management Skills

The main tool that I have for managing my time is my phone. I currently have an iPhone which allows me to set due dates along with reminders of what needs to be done as well as when it is due. Obviously you need to follow the schedule you create or it will not do you any good. I have been known to do this as I am turning this paper in a day late.

I find myself having trouble with setting priorities in many areas of my life including my job. The way I prioritize now is by doing things for my job first as it provides for my family and if we did not have money coming in; I wouldn’t be able to be going to school in the first place. Then, I take care of school work as it does provide a small amount of cash flow for us through the G.I. Bill. Finally, I take care of all other things such as lawn maintenance, home maintenance, and other various items that need to be taken care of in my personal life.

My support group consists mainly of my wife. She consistently pushes me to continue with my school work as there are many times I would rather not be going to school. My mother and father as well as my in-laws also are very proud of the fact that I have decided to obtain my degree even after being out of school for five years and going into the military.

In order to continue with my school work successfully, it is important to have a working computer at all times since I am attending an online college. Currently, I work on my laptop as it is more convenient. I do have a desktop computer as well if something were to happen to the laptop. I am also able to use the computer at my workplace after work hours and in a worst case scenario, I would be able to go to my mother’s house and use her computer.
