Abstract

This paper will cover one of the county most popular weight loss programs weight watchers. We will cover the philosophy behind the diet, he claims to weight loss, example of sample menu, maintenance plan, and supplementation that the program may or may not use, exercise plan, and behavior modification.

Philosophy behind diet

Weight Watchers has always believed that dieting is just one part of long-term weight management (Weight Watchers, 2010). Weight Watchers are unlike most diet plans that are out there on the market. The philosophy behind them is all about making a life style change. The organization will not tell you what you can and cannot eat. However, they will give one the tools needed and provide support in a group as well as one on one setting.

Weight Watching help one to make the right decisions in food choices when it comes to eating. The group is all about motivation and helping one in achieving their goals. The members give tips and tell what worked from them to be able to help someone else in achieving their goals. The group gives out incentives for milestones such as for each 5-pound weight lost.

This is a great incentive and just taking little steps at a time to reach your goal. This also creates short-term goals and in turn helps one stay on track. Because one is not being deprived of any food this is a weight lost plan that will work for many. This also helps one to make behavioral changes and assist with the weight management plan for a healthy lifestyle.

Claims of Weight loss

Weight watchers claim that by following one of their plans that one will lose the weight. The organization also suggests attending the weekly meeting to get the support needed and to stay motivated. Weight Watchers also claims that they are not offering a diet plan. However, they are offering a healthy way of eating for a lifestyle change.
