Becoming a Critic

Even though it is just a television show, Two and a Half Men enforces drinking, sleazing, and other adult behaviors. The sitcom showcases an adult individual who likes to drink and have sex with various women. His brother and nephew live with him, but he still continues his life wreck less, careless, and without remorse. In fact he has become well known for this lifestyle outside of the sitcom as well.

The show allows people to think it is acceptable for them to live their lives without consequences. Charlie, the head of the household, is well known for his drinking habits and his ability to sleep with various numbers of women on a nightly basis. Every show seems to feature him drinking alcohol and bragging about or acting out rendezvous with various women. This causes viewers to accept this form of lifestyle as an acceptable one, and begin pursuing this method of living as well. It also reinforces those who are already living this lifestyle to feel encouraged to continue these behaviors.

The way his brother and nephew are forced to accept his lifestyle just to place a roof over their heads also seems to be some of the comedy routine. However, people who live with drunks in this type of lifestyle every day are usually unable to find the humor in it. In fact studies show that most people forced to live this lifestyle are mentally or physically abused. Whereas his brother carries a fulltime job and is still a father to his son, Charlie has very little responsibility and lives his life without consequences or remorse. This is another area that allows the shows viewers to accept his lifestyle as an acceptable form of living.

Charlie has been known for his lifestyle on and off the show for years, and has recently seemed to begin facing the consequences for his decisions.
