Background

At the beginning

Nintendo first name as “RENJIANTIANTANG” founded in 1889, its explanation as “Man proposes God disposes.” Its first business is selling Hanafuda (one of Western-style playing card). Until 1969s, Nintendo ventured into the toy-making business, which was success with some famous toy products after few years production. Nintendo soon began developing its own video game.

Video game platform and Game- & Watch

In 1977s, Nintendo corporate with Mitsubishi to develop the video game for family, it continuously developed the video game platform including advanced Color TV Game 15, which was also successful. After two years, Nintendo design the hand-held portable device - Game & Watch. In 1980s, Nintendo announced to open a subsidiary in New York --- Nintendo of America.

Arcade games - Donkey Kong

Nintendo developed introduced the Donkey Kong, a commercial arcade machine and ultimate form of a game Yokoi had been working on as another entry in the Game & Watch series: Popeye. Donkey Kong was released to huge success in the U.S.

Nintendo Entertainment System

The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was introduced in 1983, with its popular series of games that included the Super Mario Bros, which was very successful and sold over 500,000. However, the products were retrieved because it sometimes crashed when playing. Although the loss was large, NES achieved a good reputation. In order to produce high quantity with low cost, three R & D departments were derived.

In 1985s, Nintendo tested NES in New York and got great succeed. Then the company launched NES globally. The third-party is responsible for the high quantity and localized the game.
