The CCUA departments current pay practices concerning data processor IIs and computer analysts Is are not externally equitable. As we can see from reading the exercise, many people feel that they are not being paid enough. In fact, that is the main issue they have with the company. Being externally competitive means that the company has a better pay, in the sense that people would rather work for them than any other. However, this is not the case with the CCUA.

I think that the best way to deal with this situation is to increase the pay of the employees. People who work hard expect to be paid accordingly. If people feel like their efforts are not appreciated, it is likely that they will be looking somewhere else for a job. As the high turnover is seriously affecting production and costs, Denise needs to understand that people are not so expendable. They need to be shown their worth and they should be paid according to the requirements of their jobs.

As this is a serious problem, I would recommend that a survey be set up yearly for the employees. Any complaints they have should be formally taken into account. Another way for the managers to know what is going on is to set up a suggestion box. People can anonymously talk about what they find dissatisfactory. Another thing I think is very important is the integrity of the managers. Employees like to feel that they are working for someone who will support them and who cares about them. From what I have read, it seems that Denise Nance is not particularly concerned with the people who work for her. The kinds of bosses who just want results without any concern for their employee’s feelings are the types that have high turnovers.
