Reflections on Nutrition

I think the most important thing I learned during this course is having a healthy eating plan is very important and not that hard. Going through the different chapters and lessons I was able to learn how different parts of the body take what you eat and make everything else work. Learning how fiber, carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins can do when eaten correctly really opened my eyes to what can happen inside your body if you get to much or too little of any of the above.

My favorite week was week 7 Nutrition Throughout the Stages of Life. I really enjoyed using everything I had learned and being able to apply it to every stage in life.  I also really enjoyed reading side information that was not in the chapters we read. It seemed as though I always wanted to know more about each subject so I would do further research because all the topics were relatable and made sense in our daily lives.

This course itself could not have come at a better time. My wife was pregnant so I really learned a lot about what her body needs and does not need in order to stay healthy and to keep my baby happy. Chapter 12, Nutrition, Pregnancy and Infants was really insightful and it gave a lot of information that I could not have got out of any of the other "pregnancy" books we have read. I also learned different ways my other children can eat healthier. I have learned so much about my body, how it works, and why it important to have a healthy eating plan.
