Purpose of the Paper

The purpose of this paper is to provide qualified voters with the thoughts, policies and position on international trade as they relate to the benefits of the citizens of the United States. My name is Kittinun Prangchaikul, and I am running for Congress. I personally agree that the United States needs a prompt international trade strategy that operates toward improving the economy, at the same time enhancing the living standard of its citizens. In order to understand more about my policies, I would like to analyze and support my ideas on healthcare reform, the war on terrorism, tariffs, port enhancement, the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), and aiding developing countries. After reviewing my policies, I believe you will support me for the United States Congress.

Healthcare Reform

Healthcare has always been a controversial issue. In my opinion, we need immediate health care reform – universal health care that is provided by the government, even though my opponents believe that the government should not provide universal health care to its citizens. Therefore, I will use comparative advantage to analyze whether the United States should provide universal health care to its citizens.

Comparative advantage is based on the opportunity costs and relative efficiencies with respect to resource use. Also, the concept of comparative advantage deals with whether a country has an advantage in producing goods compared to the other goods and trading opportunities of other countries (Carbaugh, 2009).

From the vantage point of comparative advantage, there are benefits that would occur if the new health care policy is executed.

* Reduce business obligations
