In my first reading about the fundamentals of project management I was absolutely taken aback at the thought that must go into developing a successful project. The concept of project management has very clearly defined for me the difference between a project and what is not a project. The textbook definition of a project must meet certain criteria , first and foremost one must be seeking an objective otherwise it is merely a task. Project Management evolves through four different stages .

The first aspect of the process is to identify a need or objective . The idea should have a desired result at the end of the project. This need is first originated with the customer , then it is communicated to someone with the ability to deliver on the idea. Once an agreement is made in which the customer has expressed their wants, and the contractor has agreed to perform the tasks , we enter the first phase of the project. This is when the life cycle begins. According to the textbook the life cycle is born when the task is agreed on, and is started to be implemented. It goes on further to explain that this cycle will typically go through four different phases from beginning to end. I have learned that it is very wise to develop a plan before undertaking any project that will require the expenditure of any monies or time, because without a plan it is a recipe for disaster.

The possibility of negative consequences of not planning far outweigh the effort that is involved with creating a sound plan. In every article that I have read on project management it is mentioned that one needs to be aware external factors that could possibly...
