Abstract

In order to survive in today’s competitive world, organizations are recognizing that they must not only be concerned with what’s going on outside of the company, but what is manifesting internally as well.

It is perhaps the single most powerful force for cohesion in the modern organization. Culture comes down to a common way of thinking, which drives a common way of acting on the job or producing a product in a factory. Usually these shared assumptions, beliefs, and values are unspoken-implicit. And yet in their silence, they can make the difference between a company that wins and loses, and for the individual, they can make the difference between commitment and disaffection—between joy on the job and drudgery. Culture, then, is about sustainability. . . . the social architecture of success-or failure (1)
