Scenario:

John is an 18-year-old freshman at New York University. John was the starting quarterback at his high school in a small town in Indiana. He enjoys playing sports and hanging out with friends. John has always been popular and done well in school and sports. Once he is comfortable in his surroundings he can be confident in what he is doing.

Donnie is an 18-year-old freshman from Chicago attending Iowa State. Donnie spends most of his time playing his guitar and writing music. In high school he had a few close friends but his attention was mainly focused on his studies and his music. He has little trouble expressing himself and enjoys doing so on stage while playing in his band. Donnie is determined to earn a degree and find a career in playing, writing, or producing music.

Response:

I think that John is more likely to be persuaded by peer pressures, such as drinking, skipping class, drugs, and other irresponsible behavior in the new city. John is used to being a part of a group. The fact that he is use to being popular is one sign that lets me know he is used to being associated with groups. Donnie on the other hand though has very little friends, which shows he is not associated with groups. John is also a football player which can also be considered a group, where Donnie spends his time on his guitar and writing his music alone. This is another factor that tells me that John feels that he has to try to fit in a remain a part of a group, where Donnie prefers to spend his time alone and he also loves to express himself and he enjoys doing so.

As I said before John will be more likely to be able to be persuaded then Donnie. John is always surrounded by peers and feels comfortable with this, and when you are constantly surrounded by peers you are more likely to be faced with peer pressure at some point.
