VLAN Implementation
A virtual LAN otherwise understood as a VLAN consists of a number of hosts that contain certain requirements which exchange information as if they were fastened to the same wire, despite their location. A VLAN consists of the same facet as a LAN the difference is it concedes for end stations to be joined with one another. The reconfiguring of the network can be accomplished with software.
Benefits of a VLAN
The benefits of setting up a VLAN include
* Decreased Bandwidth Consumption,
* Performance Enhancements
* Information Security
* Workgroups
* Ease of Administration
* Geographical Separation
Segmenting the Network
To reduce network congestion at a broadcast domain, the network will be divided into broadcast domains. The logical separation of the broadcast domains improves the information security in the network. The different variables the network contains will be separated by group action for each department in this scenario of the company. The engineering team will contain a portion, the operations and marketing team will also have a portion while the all center will be its own division.
Security Improvement
The network will be split into four separate sections thus allowing for better security. Every portion will aim to separate from the remainder of the network allowing for access restriction. The access control to the individual segments allows for an increase in security. The best way to establish user groups is to grant the engineering staff full access to all available resources. The same applies for the remaining three groups, providing security enclosure.
VLAN Membership
Requires a port assigned base to accommodate possible reorganization at the network design. The option allows the administration of the network as well as any users of the network further relocation of physical office space when needed. This decision provides easier allocation for changes.
