Feedback and Opportunities

Employee feedback is one of the most important tasks a supervisor or manager must do. Using the 360-degree Performance Evaluation, the supervisor will meet with the employee and discuss the results. This meeting will consist of more positive feedback than negative. Praise will be given on all positive results of the evaluation so the employee knows that his or her work is appreciated. If there are negative remarks in the evaluation, these results will be presented as areas that could be improved upon. Merely saying that something is wrong and needs to be fixed is not the correct answer in this situation. Identifying the issue and discussing how it can be improved will give the employee more information and will be more constructive to the development of the employee.

Reaching a Higher Level of Performance

Over a period of time, employees may feel that they know every aspect of their job and it no longer feels like a challenge on a daily basis. These employees are always at their top performance and are looking for something extra. Manager and supervisors will keep track of each employee to better understand what their employees can accomplish. Giving these employees more responsibility and more work will give them a little more of a challenge. These employees could also be looked upon as management material and should be challenged as such. If these employees are given the extra work and responsibility, they need to understand that they are being trusted to handle the extra responsibility and that it is not a punishment but should be looked upon as a reward. Once the employees understand this, they will take the extra responsibility and work and put forth the same high performance effort as they always have.
