Working in a group consists of knowing how to properly communicate with your group members. Within a group you will have a variety of learning styles and personality types, which can sometimes make working together in a group very challenging. Being that I am a former Marine I understand that there are different personalities and that no two people are alike and getting your message across can sometimes be difficult. In the Marines there is a saying “Know your Marines” this is said so you can learn there strengths and weaknesses and formulate a plan to work together as a team. I see how I can apply this to my school team. This is why it is important to know the various learning styles and personality types. Learning each others strengths and weaknesses will only build confidence in the team so that you can work successfully with the other individuals in your group.

After assessing my learning and my personality type I found that my learning style is Interpersonal and I am the organized type. This information is a valuable asset to my life long success. It helps me to use my strengths and manage my weaknesses and with this information given to the team we can better direct my efforts in any project.

There are several learning styles that one may encounter while working in a group such as, Interpersonal, bodily-kinesthetic, Visual-Spatial, Logical-Mathematical. Interpersonal learners have the ability to relate to others within the group and are good at creating and maintaining relationships within the group.
