Hailey the Best Friend

Most people on this planet can identify with one particular problem that they would like to have resolved in their everyday lives. Personally, one issue I have is the behavior of my dog, Hailey. I do love and accept her for the dog that she is that being said, I do know that she has some issues that do need to be addressed that could potentially be a danger to her and other canine friends. I want to assist in the resolution of her problems as it is in my interest and it would benefit the entire family.

Troubling Issues

Over the past five months, since I adopted Hailey into my home, I have noted some troubling behavior patterns when other dogs are present. Hailey is extremely intelligent when she chooses to be, her hearing is selective at best. When she is in the home environment, she will listen to my commands and respond to my requests. Out in public it is a bit of a different tune that she listens to and she tends to enjoy doing her own thing. In regard to behavioral issues she has an ability to be overexcited this is not always a bad thing, as long as she is able to control it. She jumps wildly in the air with little attention to her surroundings and no respect for her handlers. I have also noticed Hailey displays a small amount aggression and dominance over other dogs. She is not particularly fond of other animals that can gain my attention, even for a split second. At times, she will attempt to and growl and display dominance over the other dogs. She will also try to dominate our attention by butting in front of the other animal to regain our attention. This leads me to believe she is a jealous girl. Even though this does not harm or scare any of the people or pets involved, I know it is not right for Hailey to be expressing this type of attitude. By conducting proper research and taking action, I know these issues can be addressed in the future.
