The constitution was created to act as a supreme law to the United States of America. To be considered a basis for the rules and regulations of the United States Federal Government. The constitution refers to the three main branches of government, legislative, executive, and judicial. The constitution also outlines the power each branch has to exercise and also reserving rights of the states.

The reason for the branches being split was so that not one branch alone would have the power, all three must work together in passing laws and regulations. Congress is considered to be the legislative branch. Congress consists of a lower and upper house, lower is House of Representatives and upper is the Senate. In order for individuals to be elected for congress certain rules must be met. An individual applying for representative must be 25 or older, a citizen of the United states for a minimum of seven years, and live in state representing. To apply for Senate 30 years old, a citizen of nine years and also live within the state representing. Article I Section I, of the Constitution reads "All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives." Congress has the responsibility to establish rules that govern proceedings and punishment of members, basically giving the power of government mostly to Congress.

The Executive branch basically meaning the president. In order to be president requirement must also be met. An oath must be taken when an individual is elected informing him or her of their duties as president. In order for an individual to qualify for the presidency the he or she must be a natural citizen of the United States, has lived in the United States for 14 years, the vice – president is also required to meet the same criteria
