Transformation leaders have the ability to motivate the organizations workers
to look past individual interests and strive to accomplish the common goals of the
organization to enhance and accomplish its vision for the future. These leaders
have the competence, drive, skills, and knowledge to motivate the workers through
projecting their values, maintaining open-communication, understanding of social systems
and comprehension of what is necessary when the organization requires changes to
move forward and grow.
McCrimmon (1999) states, "being a transformational leader means having the
ability to inspire and motivate employees to achieve new heights" (p.1).
Transformational leaders have the ability to get organizational workers to think
differently and understands its important to listen to the workers needs. There are
four abilities that transformational leaders should have: 1) the ability to look outside the box
and have a worldly vision to get organizational workers to have creative thinking and
innovative, 2) these leaders encourage, support and build open communication with the
workers, 3) these leaders develop a vision for the organization and are able to guide the
workers in understanding and visualizing the vision, and 4) these leaders are able to build
trust and respect through their actions and words.
Ackoff (1999) states being a good leader is not something that comes from a book or
can be taught, although there are many skills, tools, and techniques that can be utilized to
enhance the leaders ability to project their vision to an organizations workers.
Transformational leaders are those that are creative and have a worldly mindset to see past
