Enjoy Your Life

One day, a man was walking in the forest. Suddenly, a hungry tiger showed up and ran to him. Being frightened, he used all his energy to run as fast as he can. He kept running and running, and the tiger kept chasing and chasing until they were forced into a cliff. Standing at the edge of the cliff, the man thought: “I’d rather jump down the cliff than being eaten by the tiger. Maybe I won’t die if I jump down.” So he jumped down the cliff resolutely.

Fortunately he was stuck by a tree. It was a plum tree with countless rich fruits. He was glad that he was still alive. Just at the time, a terrible roar came around from the bottom of the cliff. Looking down the cliff, the man saw a fierce lion staring at him. He was so scared that he didn’t know what to do. Then a thought came to his mind, “Anyway I’m dying, so it’s the same to be swallowed by either the tiger or the lion.” So gradually the fear went away and he finally calmed down.

But not long he heard another sound from the end of the trunk. This time was from a white mouse and a black mouse. They were biting the plum tree’s trunk. Immediately his heart began to beat rapidly again. But soon he regained his composure, as he realized that it’s better to fall down to death than to be eaten by the brutes. Thinking about this, he was no longer afraid of the dangers.

Feeling a little bit of hungry, he began to enjoy the plums. They were so delicious that he felt they must be the best plums he had ever had. Then he thought, “Now that in no way I will survive, why not to have a good rest before I die?” So he adjusted his posture and fell into sleep.

When he woke up, he was surprised to find that the mice were gone, and so were the tiger and the lion. He climbed up along the branches and finally got rid of danger.

So what happened during his sleep? The answer is: the tiger was too hungry to wait any longer, so it roared and dropped down the cliff. The two mice were scared away by the tiger’s...
