Technology System

Technology provides a firm short-term resolution however, adapting to future needs is another topic. System designers have to pay close attention to the overall functionality that is required to permit an organization to cultivate over time and become accustomed to changing requirements as they relate to technology. “Without this systems flexibility, logistics executives are doomed to continuously request funding for new or customized systems, feeding the board room perception that logistics is just a cost center or, worse yet, and a black hole of continuous investment. Another side effect of the systems pill is overspending by companies that rapidly implement technology without a careful ROI analysis” (Bnet, 2008). If this happens, organization may end up with automation that looks inspiring during warehouse tours but in reality retards productivity on the floor and leads to unhealthy inflation of the balance sheet. Implementation The fear of technology and ensure that it is properly incorporating it into the workplace is an all too real phenomenon. There are so many excuses ranging from "It takes too long to learn it." "I can't afford the expense right now." "I've gotten along just fine for all of these years without it." These reasons and a million more are just some of the reasons companies do not put forth the effort or provide to others for not embracing technology. “According to the most recent data from the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), there are approximately 3 million minority-owned businesses operating in the United States, of which 823,000 are owned by African Americans.
