How does OSHA impact your company? Do you think it is beneficial or repressive? Why or why not?

From my research of Occupational Safety and health Association (OSHA) I have learnt that this association is responsible for helping employers and employee reduce the amount of on the job injuries, illness and deaths. However I live on a tiny Caribbean island and we have no such association such as OSHA. So therefore had to look through my countries laws to see who is responsible for employer and employee safety at work.

The Anguilla Labor Department (ALD) is the organization that is responsible for safety and health on my island. I am currently employed at one of the local banks and the ALD has a major impact on bank. For the heath purposes the ADL has a strict code that the bank must follow. The temperature in the bank must be set correct so that no virus can spread and must have proper ventilation and lighting because the building in enclosed. ALD indicates that the all intuitions must have an acceptable amount of sanitary services. The bank also has to keep the building cleaned so therefore the building has to be cleaned every day.

On the safety side of things the ADL has put in place laws where building must be properly maintained. The bank must have regular inspections for the building every 3 month especially because we are directly in the hurricane path. Also the ADL made it mandatory that fire detectors must be in place and all fire escapes be visible for staff. The bank must also have proper signage for any hazardous material or signs for wet floors or even chip tiles and yes there is a sign for that.

I think that the ADL is beneficial is to the bank. Thanks to the ADL out of 50 staff at least 10 staff members knows CPR in case of an emergency on the job. The bank is equipped with several first aid kits which are used very frequently by staff members. ADL has save the bank from numerous lawsuits because the bank followed their guidelines and safety...
