Communication Network

In this semester, we learn a lot about communication network’s knowledge. For the class, we learn OSI structure from textbook. And there are seven layers about OSI model. (1) Application layer (2) Datalink layer (3) Transport layer (4) Network layer (5) Session layer (6) Presentation layer (7) Physical layer. And professor let us do some homework can make us more understand than before.

1. Communication Network

It is the introduction about communication network. In this chapter, I get the knowledge about network criteria are performance, Reliability and security. And there are a lot of types of Network.

In homework 1, it lets us to list two famous wars with its background, development and outcome between De jure and De facto in Telecommunications industry. It make me to search the information about GSM and CDMA ,and WCDMA and CDMA2000. Not only it’s information but also know the stander’s De jure and De factor.

2. Application layer

In this chapter, I learn about Address. Before learn the types of IP address, I don’t know that address have a lot of type can present. And also know more about E-mail, file transfer and WWW.

In homework 2, it lets us to Check the IP address of Institute of Telecommunication Management and try to present our graduate school’s IP address in five types of alias at least.

3. Transport layer

In this chapter, it talks about the duties of the transport layer: packetizing, addressing, connection creation, and reliable delivery. And Distinguish between the two transport-layer protocols used in the Internet: UDP and TCP. About packetizing, segmentation of the data, in accordance with Transport layer protocols, provides the means to both send and receive data when running multiple applications concurrently on a computer.
